The only thing better than spending a spring or summer’s day with friends and family is ending it with an amazing meal. For those living in Northern Westchester, this can be easily attained as there is a multitude of activities in which to chose from before heading to a great meal at Table 9 in Cortlandt Manor, New York. Below is a list of five fun things to do before eating at Table 9 this summer.

Go for a hike: Northern Westchester has incredible places to hike during the summer. Some of these places include Anthony’s Nose and the many trails in and around Bear Mountain State Park. These hikes provide beautiful views of the foliage and landscape surrounding them.

Go to the Bear Mountain Zoo: At Bear Mountain State Park–right across the river from Table 9–there is a great zoo which families love to visit. The Trailside Museum and Zoo houses all different types of animals including birds, foxes, coyotes, beavers, black bears, both rattlesnakes and rat snakes, frogs, turtles, and fish. Families can walk around the zoo’s path looking at the different animals or visit the museum. Inside the museum, families can see the different reptiles and amphibians, different geologic formations from the area, and learn about the history of the area. The zoo costs $10 to park with a $1 suggested donation per person.

See a show at the Paramount Hudson Valley Theatre: Located in the heart of Downtown Peekskill, the Paramount is filled with great history and even great shows. Some of amazing performances occurring at the Paramount this summer include the Peekskill Film Festival, Satisfaction–a Rolling Stones tribute, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Robert Cray, Vic Dibitetto, and many more.

Visit the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art: Also located in Peekskill, the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art offers anyone who visits a view at amazing modern and contemporary art. With new and different exhibits running all throughout the summer, the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art is an exhibit anyone interested in art in the Hudson Valley should visit. The museum is opened Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays to the general public. It costs $5 for an adult, $4 for a senior or educator, and $2 for a student or child.

Kayak on the Hudson River: If viewing the beautiful surrounding on land is not your speed, there are many options for water sports and activities which will allow you to see the breathtaking landscape around the Hudson River. Depending on the length and specific package you wish to purchase, the Annsville Paddlesport Center offers a multitude of different trips and expeditions to embark on.
